One of Swansea’s Finest Dining Experiences
When it comes to special occasions, there is one restaurant I find myself returning to time and time again. Pant-y-Gwydr Restaurant Swansea, located on Oxford Street in the city centre, continues to deliver exceptional food, attentive service, and a memorable dining experience.
Known for its authentic French cuisine, the restaurant combines locally sourced ingredients with traditional cooking techniques. The result is a menu that celebrates seasonal produce and showcases creativity in every course.

A Restaurant That Keeps Me Coming Back
Over the years, I have enjoyed many meals at Pant-y-Gwydr with family and friends. Birthdays, celebrations, and catch-ups have all been marked with visits to this Swansea favourite.
One of the aspects I enjoy most is the changing seasonal menu. Every visit offers something different, giving diners the opportunity to explore new flavours throughout the year. While I have several personal favourites, I always look forward to discovering new dishes.
Catering for Every Taste
The menu offers excellent variety. Meat lovers will find plenty of tempting options, while vegetarians and vegans are equally well catered for.
This commitment to inclusive dining makes Pant-y-Gwydr an excellent choice for groups with different dietary preferences. Everyone can enjoy a carefully prepared meal without compromise.
Starting the Evening
Complimentary Goats Cheese Parcels
The meal began with complimentary goats cheese parcels. These small bites were beautifully presented and provided a delicious introduction to the evening’s dining experience.
A Colourful Vegan Starter
Vegan Rainbow Layer Cake with Mushroom Duxelle
For my starter, I selected the Vegan Rainbow Layer Cake accompanied by mushroom duxelle.
This colourful dish combined layers of vegetables and herbs, including potatoes, carrots, spinach, parsley, chervil, tarragon, and chives. The mushroom element added depth and richness, creating a starter that was both visually appealing and full of flavour.

A Beautifully Cooked Main Course
Filet de Bar à la Marseillaise
My main course featured a perfectly cooked fillet of sea bass served in a traditional Marseillaise-style ragout.
The dish included potatoes, celery, onions, tomatoes, leeks, saffron, and garlic. Together, these ingredients created a wonderfully aromatic sauce that complemented the delicate fish perfectly.
As an extra treat, we shared a portion of triple-cooked chips. Crisp on the outside and fluffy within, they were the perfect accompaniment.

Saving Room for Dessert
Le Chocolat
Dessert was impossible to resist.
Le Chocolat was an impressive creation featuring a chocolate egg filled with chocolate mousse and cream. It was served alongside white chocolate sorbet and an ‘oeuf à la coque’ filled with warm chocolate ganache and Merlin cream liqueur.
Every element was rich, indulgent, and beautifully presented. For anyone who enjoys chocolate, this dessert is a dream come true.

Outstanding Food and Service
What makes Pant-y-Gwydr Restaurant Swansea stand out is its consistency. The food is always prepared to a high standard, the service is friendly and professional, and the atmosphere feels welcoming from the moment you arrive.
The restaurant successfully balances fine dining with comfort, creating an experience that feels special without being intimidating.
Final Thoughts
Pant-y-Gwydr continues to set the standard for French dining in Swansea. The quality of the ingredients, the attention to detail, and the warm hospitality make every visit memorable.
Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an exceptional meal, this restaurant deserves a place on your list.
