A Sunday with NoFit State Circus in Porthcawl

A Different Kind of Sunday

Sunday offered something a little different. I visited CARNATION by NoFit State Circus in Porthcawl. The experience felt engaging without being overwhelming. It balanced energy, creativity, and atmosphere very well.

Before the show, I kept things simple. I enjoyed a Welsh lager and some popcorn while waiting for the performance to begin. It felt like the perfect start to a relaxed evening under the Big Top.

Inside the Big Top

CARNATION throws the audience into a large-scale circus experience built around hope, rebellion, and human connection. The production combines world-class circus acts, live music, and bold cinematic imagery throughout the show.

Award-winning director Firenza Guidi brings everything together in a way that feels immersive from the moment you enter the tent.

The performance focused more on strength, balance, and gymnastics than traditional slapstick for children. That gave the show a modern and artistic feel.

Each act showed precision and control. The performers made difficult routines look effortless. Several moments had the audience holding their breath before breaking into applause.

I often found myself thinking, “I’d definitely fall off that.”

For the record, I did not join in. There was also no request for clowns, which suited me perfectly.

A Walk Along Porthcawl Seafront

After the show, I enjoyed a peaceful walk along the Porthcawl seafront. The calm atmosphere balanced the excitement of the circus.

The fresh sea air and sound of the waves created the perfect end to the evening. It was simple but refreshing.

Ice Cream to Finish

No visit to Porthcawl feels complete without a treat. I stopped at Sidoli’s Ice Cream for a well-earned ice cream.

Circus, coastline, and ice cream turned out to be a very good combination.

Final Thoughts

My visit to NoFit State Circus Porthcawl delivered something genuinely memorable. CARNATION mixed athletic skill, live music, and visual storytelling into an entertaining Big Top experience.

The revolution may be coming. For now, though, I am still starting with ice cream.
