A Warm Welcome in the Heart of Swansea
If you want to try something different in Swansea, Red Sea Restaurant is well worth a visit. This family-run restaurant serves authentic Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting.
Celebrating a Birthday with Friends
We visited Red Sea Restaurant as part of a birthday celebration. It provided the perfect opportunity to experience a cuisine that was new to many of us. The friendly atmosphere made the occasion feel relaxed and enjoyable from the moment we arrived.
Sharing Traditional Dishes
The menu offered a variety of traditional dishes. We sampled several types of wat, a rich stew made with pulses, vegetables, or meat. The chef adjusted the spice levels to suit our group, allowing everyone to enjoy the meal comfortably.
Freshly prepared injera accompanied the dishes. This soft, fermented flatbread has a unique texture and flavour. We used it to scoop up the stews, which added to the authentic dining experience.
Guests who enjoy extra heat can request spicier meat dishes when ordering.

Discovering the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony
The traditional coffee ceremony provided a memorable end to the meal. Our waitress roasted fresh green coffee beans before brewing the coffee.
She then served the coffee in a beautiful ceramic pot. Although the dark brew looked strong, it tasted surprisingly smooth and full of flavour. It proved to be the perfect way to finish the evening.
A Unique Swansea Dining Experience
Red Sea Restaurant offers more than great food. It introduces diners to the culture and traditions of Ethiopia and Eritrea through its dishes and hospitality.
The prices remain very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for those on a budget. Whether you enjoy international cuisine or simply want to try something new, Red Sea Restaurant delivers a unique dining experience in Swansea.
I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for something different from the usual restaurant choices.
